Sectors are added to a passage plan by selecting waypoints from a database, whereupon the true course and distance is calculated.
The magnetic variation is automatically determined and so the magnetic heading is derived.
At this point the tidal stream direction and flow can be input to allow calculation of the course to steer (not allowing for leeway), speed
over the ground and time for the sector.
The 'NAV' view shows a vectored display (track up) of the passage plan and local waypoints.
The 'MAP' view shows the passage plan and waypoints overlaid on a Google map (internet connection required).
(The Pro version includes a moving display of these 2 views with live boat position and data [GPS required].)
iPlotter works anywhere in the world.
(Note: local waypoints must be added to the database).
Tap 'Menu' button and enter the average cruise speed of your boat in the edit box (knots)
Tap 'iPlotter' navigation bar button to return to main screen.
Tap '+' navigation bar button to input the first sector of the passage plan.
Scroll the waypoint table view to find the departure waypoint, then select.
Scroll again to find the destination waypoint, then select.
The true course(°t) and distance (nm) of the sector is calculated and displayed.
If not entering tidal stream information, tap the 'Done' navigation bar button to save and return to main screen.
(Use the 'iPlotter' button to cancel and return.)
To input tidal stream data, tap 'Adjust for Tide' button. Enter the average direction of the tidal stream (true), tap 'Next' button to move to speed edit box and enter the tidal stream speed (knots).
Tap 'Calculate' button and a course to steer (not allowing for leeway) and speed over the ground (SOG) is displayed.
Tap 'Done' button to save this data, or re-select the destination waypoint, or tap 'iPlotter' button to return to main screen without saving.
Continue as above to input subsequent sectors of passage plan.
If the tidal stream for a sector needs updating, select that sector to display an edit screen. Enter new data in the direction and speed boxes then tap the 'Update' button.
A sector can deleted only if it is the last entered sector. Do this by tapping the 'Delete' navigation bar button in the edit screen.
The main screen displays the current passage plan.
For each sector the table shows:
Scroll display to show sectors not in view.
In the lower part of screen, average boat speed (over water, as set in 'Menu'), total distance and total time for passage plan is displayed.
At any point, boat speed can be edited in 'Menu'. The current passage plan will then be updated accordingly.
Select 'Nav' from the lower tab bar to display a vectored view of the passage plan, depicting the planned course, and local waypoints existing in the database.
Drag and pinch screen to adjust display.
(Pro version displays live boat position and data if device has GPS facility.)
Select 'Map' from lower tab bar to display the passage plan overlaid on a Google map. (internet connection required) All waypoints existing in database will also be overlaid on the map.
